adH0cc spectroscopic classification of SN 2019rsw
Abstract:
We have obtained an optical spectrum of SN 2019rsw. The spectrum shows a featureless blue continuum, consistent with a young Type II supernova.
The adH0cc programme for an "accurate determination of H0 with core-collapse supernovae" reports the classification of the optical transient SN 2019rsw. The target was supplied by the Zwicky Transient Facility ZTF (Kulkarni 2018, 2018ATel11266....1K) and the ATLAS survey (Tonry et al. 2018, 2018PASP..130f4505T). The observations were performed on the night of 2019 October 10 with the ESO Very Large Telescope UT1, equipped with the FORS2 spectrograph and grism 300V, covering a wavelength range from 3400 to 9600A at a resolution of 10A.

The phase has been estimated from the ZTF light curve, the redshift from narrow host-galaxy emission lines. If the object is indeed a young Type II SN, the long persistence of a blue, featureless continuum as well as the high absolute magnitude M_r ~ -18 make it an atypical member of this class. | 02:31:34.532 | +24:49:00.40 | SN II | 0.055 |
