Abstract:
We have obtained an optical spectrum of SN 2020sjp, which shows it to be a Type Ia supernova a few days after maximum light.

The HOLISMOKES team (Highly Optimised Lensing Investigations of Supernovae, Microlensing Objects, and Kinematics of Ellipticals and Spirals; Suyu et al. 2020, 2020arXiv200208378S) reports the classification of the optical transient SN 2020sjp. The target was supplied by the Zwicky Transient Facility ZTF (Kulkarni 2018, 2018ATel11266....1K). The observations were performed on UT 2020 August 27 with the Gemini-N Telescope, equipped with GMOS-N and the B600 grating, covering a wavelength range from 4750 to 8715 Å at a resolution of 4.5 Å.

SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) provides good matches with several normal and 91T-like Type Ia supernovae between peak and +1 week. The reported redshift has been determined from cross-correlating our spectrum of the host galaxy with spectral templates of early-type galaxies from SDSS. 23:38:45.026 -13:21:29.90 SN Ia 0.206
