adH0cc spectroscopic classification of SN 2020cye
Source Group: adH0cc
Abstract:
We have obtained an optical spectrum of SN 2020cye, which shows it to be a young Type II supernova at redshift 0.064.
The adH0cc programme for an "accurate determination of H0 with core-collapse supernovae" reports the classification of the optical transient SN 2020cye. The target was supplied by the Zwicky Transient Facility ZTF (Kulkarni 2018, 2018ATel11266....1K). The observations were performed on the night of 2020 February 20 with the ESO Very Large Telescope UT1, equipped with the FORS2 spectrograph and grism 300V, covering a wavelength range from 3400 to 9600A at a resolution of 10A.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TNS | 2020cye [ZTF20aaoxbju] | 12:34:33.394 | +20:21:07.26 | SN II | 0.06381 | SDSS J123433.55+202106.2 | 0.06381 | ZTF | 9d | The spectrum shows a blue continuum with weak P-Cygni lines of hydrogen and helium superimposed, characteristic of a young Type II supernova. From the spectroscopic appearance and the photometric constraints, we estimate a phase about 9d after explosion. | 12:34:33.394 | +20:21:07.26 | SN II | 0.06381 |
