We classify SN 2021jvp (PS21dhv; Chen et al. AstroNote 2021-124) in galaxy WISEA J142047.66-194744.9 as a Type Ia-91bg-like supernova.
Observations were performed on the UH88 on the night of 2021 April 19 on MJD = 59323.492 using SNIFS (Blandine et al. 2004SPIE.5249..146L) and Channel R (wavelengths from 520 nm to 1 µm with a resolution around 1300 at 760 nm).
Classifications were done using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007; 2007ApJ...666.1024B). The spectrum shows a good match with SN1991bg (Ia-91bg) at phase +2d, and infers a redshift of 0.037 +/- 0.007 from the spectral fitting. This is slightly closer than the redshift of the host galaxy of 0.044 (from NED), but within the uncertainty of the SNID estimate. We notice that the projection distance of SN 2021jvp is 28.6 Kpc away from the host centre at a remote location, if WISEA J142047.66-194744.9 is the host. There are no other plausible hosts visible in the vicinity.
The classification spectra and additional details can be obtained from the IAU Transient Name Server.
