AT2021qyd was identified as a fast blue extragalactic transient using ZTF and LT photometry (Ho et al. 2021, TNS AstroNote 180, 1). Recent ZTF and LT photometry suggests that the transient is rising to its second peak.
We obtained spectroscopic observations using LRIS on the Keck I telescope on the night of UT 2021-07-06, corresponding to 11.2 days after the ZTF first detection epoch. The redshift of z=0.049 was measured from host galaxy emission lines.
Classification was performed using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024). The best-matched SNID templates are the Type Ib/c SN 2005bf, and the Type Ic SN 2008D. We note that the spectrum is also similar to the double peaked Type Ic SN 2019cad at 13.6 days past explosion (Gutierrez et l. 2021, MNRAS, 504, 4907).
