Abstract:
We have obtained an optical spectrum of SN 2021szr, which shows it to be a Type Ia supernova.

The adH0cc programme for an "accurate determination of H0 with core-collapse supernovae" reports the classification of the optical transient SN 2021szr. The target was supplied by the Pan-STARRS survey for Transients (Huber et al. 2015, 2015ATel.7153....1). The observations were performed on the night of 2021 July 14 with the ESO Very Large Telescope UT1, equipped with the FORS2 spectrograph and grism 300V, covering a wavelength range from 3400 to 9600 Å at a resolution of 10 Å.

SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007; 2007ApJ...666.1024B) finds good matches with SN 2004eo at -6 days and SN 2005bc at -5 days, consistent with the age of the SN estimated from Pan-STARRS photometry. The redshift of z = 0.143 has been determined from narrow host-galaxy emission lines. 16:20:15.504 -02:15:05.73 SN Ia 0.143
