ZTF discovery of the nearby rising transient ZTF21aaabvit / AT 2021J
Source Group: ALeRCE
Keywords: Transient
Abstract:
We report the discovery of ZTF21aaabvit / AT 2021J, a nearby rising transient in galaxy NGC 4414 reported by the ALeRCE broker (TNS #95259) using the ZTF public alert stream. The object was detected at 17.09 mag on a ZTF g-band image obtained on Jan 1st, 2021 at 11:44 UT, 9 days after a reported non-detection, with a subsequent g-band detection at 16.09 mag on Jan 3rd 2021. We encourage additional follow-up observations of this transient.
We report the discovery of ZTF21aaabvit / AT 2021J, a rising transient reported by the ALeRCE broker (TNS #95259) using the ZTF public alert stream. The object was detected on a ZTF g-band image obtained on Jan 1st, 2021 at 11:44 UT with 17.09+-0.08 mag, 9 days after a reported non-detection in ZTF g-band (18.41 mag). Since then, the object has been rising at 0.51+-0.04 mag/day in g-band, reaching 16.09 mag in g-band on Jan 3rd 2021 at 10:37 UT. Its ZTF light curve can be explored in https://alerce.online/object/ZTF21aaabvit. ZTF21aaabvit is located in the galaxy NGC 4414, which has a redshift of 0.0024 and a distance of ~17.7 Mpc (Freedman et al. 2001). We encourage additional follow-up observations of this transient.
