Radio detection of Supernova SN2021bhd
Authors: Itai Sfaradi, Assaf Horesh (Hebrew University of Jerusalem)
Abstract:
Here we report our VLA observation of the Type Ib/c supernova SN2021bhd. We detect a single point source (consistent with the position of SN2021bhd) with a flux level of ~0.47 mJy at a central frequency of 10 GHz.

We report the detection of radio emission from the Type Ib/c supernova in UGC 8737, SN2021bhd (TNS report 97890; TNS AstroNote 2021-31; TNS AstroNote 2021-39).

The Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) conducted a 2 hours observation in A configuration, under our approved DDT program (PI Sfaradi), on the 2021-02-07.8. We performed an analysis of the data using the 3C286 as a flux calibrator and J1436+6336 as a gain calibrator.

A single point source is detected in the VLA image in X band (a central frequency of 10 GHz) at RA = 13:48:14.754 Dec = +68:05:22.92 (consistent with the position of SN2021bhd) with a flux density of 0.47 mJy.

We plan to perform follow-up observations with the VLA, and encourage further high cadence multi frequency radio observations with other facilities.

We thank the VLA and NRAO staff for scheduling and performing this observation.
