Abstract:
Spectroscopy from the Liverpool Telescope shows AT2021gmj to be a young Type II supernova. The spectrum of AT2021gno is blue and featureless.

We acquired 2x600s of spectroscopy of ZTF21aaqhhfu (AT 2021gno) and of ZTF21aaqgmjt (AT 2021gmj) using the Spectrograph for the Rapid Acquisition of Transients (SPRAT) on the 2m Liverpool Telescope, located at the Roque de Los Muchachos on La Palma in the Canary Islands.  The spectrum of AT 2021gmj shows broad emission features centered at 6500 and 4600 Angstroms, and a possible weaker broad feature at 4830 Angstroms.   We attribute these to blueshifted H-alpha, He II 4686, and H-beta (v_max = 12000 km/s) and thus classify AT 2021gmj as a young Type II supernova.  The spectrum of AT 2021gno is blue and featureless.  On this basis and due to its fast initial rise, we suggest it is also likely to be a Type II supernova, but additional spectroscopy will be needed to confirm this.
