Scheduled Chandra X-ray Observations of AT2022tsd
Source Group: ZTF
Abstract:
We report the scheduling blocks for 40 ksec of Chandra X-ray observations of the luminous fast blue optical transient AT2022tsd, and encourage simultaneous multiwavelength observations.
In light of the discovery of minute-timescale optical flares in the aftermath of the luminous fast blue optical transient AT2022tsd (AstroNote #2022-267) at z=0.256 (AstroNote #2022-199), we requested 40 ksec of Chandra X-ray observations through Director’s Discretionary Time to search for X-ray flares. We report that observations are scheduled for the following two windows (UT):
2022 Dec 26: 14:32:19.741 to 20:53:15.953 2022 Dec 29: 07:27:01.700 to 11:41:21.292We encourage multiwavelength follow-up observations during these windows, to search for simultaneous flares in multiple bands.
We thank the Chandra Observatory staff for rapidly approving the DD request and scheduling the observations.
