Abstract:
We report the detection of luminous radio emission from the fast blue optical transient AT2023fhn at z=0.24.

On UT 2023 June 15 the Very Large Array (VLA) observed the position of AT2023fhn (ZTF23aaeozpp), a luminous fast blue optical transient at z=0.24 (AstroNote #2023-93) with an X-ray counterpart (AstroNote #2023-105). The X-band image RMS was 4 uJy in 33 minutes of on-source time.

A point source was detected at the position of AT2023fhn with a flux density of 42 uJy in X-band (10 GHz in the observer frame), corresponding to a luminosity of 7.6E28 erg/s/Hz at 54 rest-frame days post-explosion. This is very similar to the radio luminosity of AT2018cow at a similar frequency and epoch (Margutti et al. 2019).

We thank the VLA staff for rapidly scheduling and executing these observations.
