AT 2023 was discovered by ZTF on 2023-05-14 09:48:49 (MJD = 60078.40890) and independently detected by ATLAS on 2023-08-02 08:33:16 (MJD = 60158.35643). The ZTF light curve shows a slow flux rise until 2023-07-26 08:20:06 (MJD = 60151.34729, ZTF g = 20.420 ± 0.215) and a fast brightening from 2023-07-31 05:23:19 (MJD = 60156.22452, ZTF g = 18.428 ± 0.080) to
2023-08-07 09:53:12 (MJD = 60163.41195; ZTF peak r magnitude = 16.789 ± 0.048).
The likely host is a low-surface-brightness galaxy at RA, Dec (deg) = 258.5400, 81.0754 with DESI Legacy Survey DR10 magnitudes g=21.09, r=20.64, z=20.45 and uncertain photometric redshift
z = 0.065 +/- 0.034. Spectroscopic classification and further follow up is strongly encouraged.
