Abstract:
We report the classification of AT 2023emq (ATLAS23ftq) as a Type Icn supernova at z=0.031.

We report the classification of AT 2023emq (ATLAS23ftq) as a Type Icn supernova. A spectrum obtained by the Global Supernova Project with the FLOYDS spectrograph mounted on the Las Cumbres Observatory Faulkes Telescope South on UT 2023-04-03 16:29:31 reveals a blue continuum with narrow emission line of C III 5696 Å as well as a blend of C III 4650 Å and He II 4686 Å at a redshift z=0.031, consistent other Type Icn supernovae around maximum light. The most recent g-band magnitude, obtained using Las Cumbres Observatory 1m telescopes, is 17.1 (-18.6 at this redshift). The light curve indicates the supernova is around maximum light. Further follow-up is encouraged.
