Abstract:
Using the MISTRAL spectro-imager at the OHP/T193 telescope, we classified the candidate supernovae AT2024kdh as normal type Ia SN.

We made a spectroscopic follow-up of the candidate supernovae AT2024kdh detected by the ZTF collaboration and reported by Forster et al. (ALeRCE group; 2024TNSTR1764....1F) with the MISTRAL spectro-imager at the OHP/T193 telescope. We took three 30min exposures on the 18th of June 2024 between 00h24 and 02h01 UT, with a north-south oriented slit in the blue-mode (4200-8000A). Two further 30min exposures were taken the following night (19th June UT) with a red setup (5850-9900A).

The spectrum resembles that of a type Ia supernova past maximum light, which is consistent with the light curve phase as seen at https://lasair-ztf.lsst.ac.uk/objects/ZTF24aaqcrdh/. The Supernova Identification (SNID) code of Blondin & Tonry 2007 (2007ApJ...666.1024B) finds a good match to the normal type Ia SN 2002bf at +11 days past maximum light. Several absorption lines probably coming from the host galaxy SDSS J172028.10+352731.9 give a redshift of 0.0389.

We acknowledge the excellent support from Observatoire de Haute-Provence and in particular J.P. Troncin for the MISTRAL observations.
