Abstract:
We report on the ZTF discovery and LCOGT follow-up imaging of AT 2024muv (ZTF24aatbpbr), a bright SN candidate in NGC 4699, in the Virgo cluster of galaxies

Sollerman et al. have reported to TNS (TNS Astronomical Transient Report No. 215875 ) AT 2024muv (ZTF24aatbpbr), detected by ZTF on 2024-06-26 04:32:59 UT at  i-ZTF =  14.469 +/- 0.036. The last ZTF non detection was on 2024-06-24 05:40:17 UT with a g-band limiting magnitude of 18.325.

Here, we report the confirmation of this transient with LCOGT 1-m imaging. The transient is located at about 3.8" from the nucleus of the spiral galaxy NGC 4699, at the outskirts of the Virgo Cluster of galaxies.

The attached figure shows the LCOGT g-band, 30-sec, image of AT 2024muv obtained with one of the LCOGT 1-m telescopes at the LCOGT node at Siding Spring Observatory on 2024-06-26 08:08:18 UT. We will report the LCOGT photometry to TNS.

We encourage follow-up observations of this transient and the spectroscopic classification.

The ZTF light curve is available at the ZTF/LSST brokers, e.g.:
