Spectroscopic classification of SNe 2024lnq and 2024lpm
Abstract:
We have obtained optical spectra of SN 2024lnq and SN 2024lpm, which show them to be a superluminous SN and an SN Ia, respectively.
We report the spectroscopic classification of the optical transients SN 2024lnq and SN 2024lpm. The targets were supplied by the Zwicky Transient Facility ZTF (Kulkarni 2018, 2018ATel11266....1K). The observations were performed on UT 2024 July 5.0 and July 6.9, respectively, with the 3.58m Italian Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (Canary Islands, Spain), equipped with DOLORES, covering a wavelength range from 5000 to 9700 Å at a resolution of 9 Å. Classifications were done using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, 2007ApJ...666.1024B), GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, 2008A&A...488..383H), and NGSF (Next Generation SuperFit; AstroNote 2022-191, Howell et al. 2005, 2005ApJ...634.1190H).

TNS | 2024lnq [ZTF24aaruheu] | 14:50:43.751 | +69:33:16.48 | SN | 0.48 | ZTF | The spectrum of SN 2024lnq shows a blue continuum with broad undulations. Spectral cross-matching with GELATO, SNID, and NGSF yields reasonable matches with various SLSNe (e.g., SN 2008es, SN 2015bn, CSS121015). The redshift is somewhat uncertain, but z=0.48 allows the identification of a faint emission feature with H-beta and is at the same time consistent with the photo-z estimate of the host galaxy from the Legacy Survey. At that redshift, the absolute magnitude of SN 2024lnq is around -23. | 14:50:43.751 | +69:33:16.48 | SN | 0.48 | |||

The redshift z=0.122 has been measured from a narrow H-alpha emission line in the host galaxy. | 15:10:14.823 | +70:49:32.72 | SN Ia | 0.122 |
