Abstract:
We report observations of the FSRQ OQ 334 (a.k.a. B2 1420+32) with the Large Array Survey Telescope (LAST) during 2 nights, following up on recent reports of brightening in gamma-ray and optical observations.

We report the observations of the Flat Spectrum Radio Quasar OQ 334 (a.k.a. B2 1420+32) at R.A: 215.626579 deg, Dec.: 32.386233 deg (J2000; Petrov & Taylor 2011, AJ, 142, 89) and redshift z=0.6819 (Hewett & Wild 2010, MNRAS, 405, 2302) with the Large Array Survey Telescope (LAST, Ofek et al. 2023; Ben-Ami et al. 2023). The source was recently reported flaring in gamma-ray observations from Fermi-LAT (ATel #16680) and in the R-band (ATel #16681).

We observed the source with no filter (clear) in multiple visits during the nights of 1 and 2 July 2024. The reported magnitudes are in the LAST native AB system, calibrated relative to the GAIA-DR3 Bp band (i.e., color term was fitted and the source color was assumed to be Bp-Rp=1 mag).

From a preliminary analysis, we measure the following average fluxes in each night:

MJD = 60492.8399  M = 16.05 +/- 0.02

MJD = 60493.7942  M = 15.67 +/- 0.02

The average color term for the observations is 0.84. All errors include statistical and calibration errors (of about 0.02 mag).

The source does not show significant variability over multiple visits on the night of July 1. It shows significant variations in the second night of July 2 where it is observed with a minimum brightness of M = 15.71 +/- 0.02 and a maximum of M = 15.63 +/- 0.02.

LAST is a survey telescope array of the Weizmann Astrophysical Observatory (https://www.weizmann.ac.il/wao/).
