ZTF Reclassification of SN 2024pco/ZTF24aaupoba as a Ib-pec SN
Abstract:
We re-classify SN 2024pco/ZTF24aaupoba as a Ib-pec SN based on a recently obtained spectroscopic information.
SN 2024pco was discovered by GOTO on 2024-07-05.21 UT and subsequently classified as a Type Ibn SN by Duarte et al. (AstroNote 2024-194) based on a spectrum observed by ESO New Technology Telescope (NTT). We obtained a follow-up spectrum of the source on 2024-08-02 (JD=2460525.69) with the Nordic Optical Telescope. The spectrum reveals broad He-I and best matches with SN2005bf (SNID; Blondin & Tonry 2008) which is a Ib-peculiar SN. In addition, the lightcurve also shows a slow rise to the maximum of around 30 days which further supports the Ib peculiar classification.
