Abstract:
We report a pre-discovery GOTO detection of AT2024vjm (BGEM J190925.80-635001.7) on 2024-09-13 at 10:08:19 UT, constraining the explosion time to within ~9.2 hours.
The Gravitational-wave Optical Transient Observer (GOTO; Steeghs et al. 2022) collaboration reports a pre-discovery detection of AT2024vjm (BGEM J190925.80-635001.7) discovered by BlackGEM and MeerLICHT. AT2024vjm is detected at a 3-sigma significance level in a 4x45s image taken as part of our regular sky survey at 2024-09-13 10:08:19 UT using the L-band filter (400-700nm). Forced photometry at the position returns L-band = 19.21 +/- 0.24 AB mag. This, in conjunction with the reported BlackGEM and MeerLicht discovery and pre-detection data, limits the explosion epoch to a 9.12h window. The second GOTO-observation (4x45s images) of AT2024vjm at 2024-09-14 11:31:26 UT shows a L-band magnitude of 18.70 +/- 0.22, which indicates the rising behaviour of AT2024vjm.

We strongly encourage continued follow-up.
