We report the classification of four optical transients observed on 2024 October 22. Observations were performed on the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT) at El Roque de Los Muchachos (La Palma, Spain) using the ALFOSC instrument as part of the 2024 NOT observing school at the University of Turku.
Classifications were done using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007 2007ApJ...666.1024B).
The redshifts of all objects are based on the best SNID fit, as no clear narrow lines associated with the host galaxy can be seen.
AT 2024xqa (z=0.073) and AT 2024ygt (z=0.081) show a resemblance to normal SNe Ia around 5 days after peak brightness, consistently with their ZTF light curves. AT 2024xhx (z=0.069) resembles a slightly older SN Ia (either a normal or 91T-like SN Ia) around 10 days after peak brightness. Finally, AT 2024xlh (z=0.030) fits a SN II a few days after peak brightness, with strong broad P-Cygni Balmer lines.
