Abstract:
Here we report the classification of two optical transients (an old SN II and an unidentified nuclear transient).

We report the classification of two optical transients: AT2024yrr and AT2024wsg. The observations were performed on the 29th of October 2024 using the ALFOSC instrument (Grism_#4) mounted on the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT) located at Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM, La Palma, Spain) under the proposal ID 70-203 (PI: G. Garcia-Moreno).

AT2024wsg was first discovered by ZTF on UT 2024-08-31 10:05:51.9, implying an age of at least 2 months at the time of our observations. Our spectroscopic classification, performed with GELATO (Harutyunyan et al., 2008, A&A, 488, 383), showed a reasonable match to an old IIP peculiar SN1999eu (97D-like) at +102 days post-explosion. The redshift is in agreement with the value of z=0.028583 obtained for its host galaxy (MCG -01-09-014) from NED.

AT2024yrr was discovered by BlackGEM on UT 2024-08-13 06:55:08.0 in the nucleus of the galaxy UGC 01524 with redshift z=0.042413. Despite the narrow 0.5 arcsec slit used for this classification, the object still has a strong host contribution, which makes its classification challenging. Therefore, we set it to Other.
