Abstract:
We report Las Cumbres Observatory multi-band photometry of the young supernova AT 2024abbv in UGCA 006

Following the ATLAS discovery of the young supernova candidate AT 2024abbv (ATLAS24qei) on MJD 60627.87 == 2024-11-13.87, at m_o = 16.16 +/- 0.03 by Tonry et al. (TNS Astronomical Transient Report No. 232489) and Smith et al. (AstroNote 2024-335) we have carried out follow-up observations with one of the two Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope network (LCOGT) 40-cm telescopes located at the LCOGT node at Siding Spring Observatory (Australia). The observations consisted of single exposures in the SDSS g', r', and i' filters (60 sec in each filter) and a 120 sec exposure in the PanSTARRS zs filter. We obtain the following magnitudes, calibrated using stars from the catalog of Gaia DR3 synthetic photometry generated from the Gaia BP/RP mean spectra (Gaia collaboration 2022) and without corrections for Milky Way extinction:

g' = 15.12 +/- 0.04, on 2024-11-14 09:56:42 UT

r' = 15.34 +/- 0.04, on 2024-11-14 09:57:50 UT

i' = 15.56 +/- 0.08, on 2024-11-14 09:58:58 UT

zs = 15.74 +/- 0.14, on 2024-11-14 10:00:05 UT

Photometry of AT 2024abbv has also been reported to TNS by GOTO (GOTO24igj), with L-GOTO = 15.28 +/- 0.01 on 2024-11-14 12:23:52 UT.


AT 2024abbv is located close to a blue resolved source, likely a star-forming region, in UGCA 006 (19 Mpc), with Legacy Imaging Surveys magnitudes g=20.50, r=20.52, i=20.30, and z=20.23 and coordinates RA, Dec (J2000) = 8.5369, -30.7680 (degree).

Multi-wavelength follow up is encouraged.
