Abstract:
Here we report the classification of the nearby and young Type II SN 2024cld.

AT 2024cld was discovered and classified as part of the GOTO-FAST Astronote 2023-224 program. AT 2024cld was discovered by GOTO at 2024-02-13 05:28:41 at 17.96 mag, with a non-detection down to ~18.7 mag 23 hours previous (2024-02-12T06:25:26).
A spectroscopic observation with the INT/IDS instument began 28 minutes post-discovery by GOTO with R150V grating (3950-7900 Å, R ~600).

The spectrum shows a blue continuum with strong narrow Balmer emission lines, and a slightly broader complex around He II 4686A that is likely to include some contribution of NIII and CIII lines. Such features are characteristic of Flash-ionised features in young Type II SNe.

The narrow lines indicate a redshift of z~0.014, slightly larger than the coincident galaxy NGC 6004, which is at z=0.01277 and a TF-distance of 42Mpc.

Follow-up observations are planned over the coming nights.
