The Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) collaboration is presently in an extended operational phase that aligns with the fourth gravitational wave observing run of LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA (ZTF+O4). During this period, a public ZTF experiment will be conducted on three nights each month (see Ahumada et al., 2023-349).
The next ZTF extragalactic experiment is scheduled to start on 2024-03-01 03:06:28.678 UT and end on 2024-03-03 12:50:04.612 UT (from MJD 60370.1294 to 60372.5347). The goal of this experiment is to explore the usage of ZTF in tandem with DECam and discover fast-evolving transients in the overlapping area of these telescopes. For this purpose, we are planning two visits to each of the selected ZTF fields with the g-, r-, and i-band filters. The g-band and r-band exposures will be 140 sec, while the i-band exposures will be 175 sec. With DECam, we will cover the same region on starting 2024-03-02 00:00:19.977 UT (MJD 60371) with one 30 sec g-band exposure per pointing.
The ZTF transient alerts will be released to the community in real time through the public alert stream. Image and catalog data will also be part of the ZTF public data release. Similarly, the DECam program (PI-Ahumada) will not have a proprietary period, and the Community Pipeline results will be produced throughout the night.
