Classification of SN 2025mqc (ZTF25aatdgae) as a Type Ib Supernova

Abstract:
We report the classification of SN 2025mqc as a young type Ib supernova in NGC 4653 at ~38 Mpc.

We report the classification of SN 2025mqc (ZTF25aatdgae) as a young type Ib supernova with similarities to SN 2008D at early phases. Like SN 2008D, SN 2025mqc also appears to show an early flux excess prior to the sharp light curve rise detected by ATLAS and ZTF, which could be associated with shock cooling emission.

Spectroscopic observations were conducted with Keck LRIS.
