Abstract:
We report the classification of SN 2026ayt as a likely young type II supernova in UGCA 165 at ~16 Mpc.

We report the classification of SN 2026ayt (ATLAS26ayq) as a likely young type II supernova in UGCA 165 at ~16 Mpc. The classification spectrum shows a hot blue continuum with high velocity H-alpha and H-beta line profiles. Additional spectroscopic follow-up is encouraged.

Spectroscopic observations were conducted with Keck LRIS.
