Smartt (University of Oxford) HOLISMOKES SN II 0.156 1 HOLISMOKES A spectrum of SN 2026dph obtained on UT 2026 February 22 with the ESO Very Large Telescope UT1, equipped with the FORS2 spectrograph and grism 300I, shows a blue continuum with a broad H alpha P-Cygni line superimposed, consistent with a young Type II supernova. HII-region emission lines from the host galaxy (He I, H alpha, [S II]) yield a redshift of 0.156, in line with SDSS and DESI spectroscopic redshifts of other galaxies in the field. At that redshift, the absolute magnitude of the supernova is about -17.5. An expansion velocity of 12500 km/s is derived from the H alpha absorption. 2026TNSCR.750....1T
