S. C. Williams (Turku), R. Kotak (Turku), P. A. Mazzali (LJMU), M. Fraser (UCD), I. Hook (Lancaster), J. Nordin (Humboldt Berlin), A. Pastorello (INAF-OAPd) report/s a classification of object: SN 2020nlb

Type: SN Ia

Remarks: We obtained a spectrum with the SPRAT spectrograph on the 2m Liverpool Telescope on 2020 Jun 25.84 UT, which shows SN 2020nlb is a Type Ia supernova; we measure a velocity of ~14500km/s from the strong Si II absorption feature. There is no evidence of C II 6580,7234A absorption in the spectrum. The spectrum does not appear to suffer from significant reddening, and clear Na I D absorption is not detected. Overall, the spectrum shows some similarities to a sub-luminous Type Ia supernova.
