Rodney (Univ. of South Carolina), J. Roberts-Pierel (STScI), A. Bolton (NSF's NOIRLab), S. Chakrabarti, P. Craig, and B. Alamiri (RIT) report/s a classification of object: SN 2021uvy

Type: SLSN-I
Redshift: 0.255

Remarks: SLSN-I at a redshift of about 0.255, likely 8 to 15 days before maximum light. It was selected as a SLSN candidate for LT SPRAT spectroscopy using the ZTF public alerts processed by the ZTF brokers and our SGLF filters and the ALeRCE light curve classification of SLSN. It was also reported as a SLSN candidate by Lunnan et al. (AstroNote 2021-218). The rising time at the epoch of the LT SPRAT observations was 35 days since the first ZTF detection at 2021-07-08 10:11:11. The classification was done using SNID (S. Blondin & J. L. Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024). The last ZTF detections are g=19.12 +/- 0.08 at 2021-08-10 10:09:50 and r=18.99 +/- 0.07 at 2021-08-10 09:06:28, with absolute magnitudes Mg=-21.5 and Mr =-21.5 at z=0.255 after correction for galactic extinction. SNID shows degeneracy with other SN spectral types which should be discarded by the light curve rising time. Additional observations to confirm the classification and redshift are encouraged. The ZTF light curve is available at the ZTF brokers, e.g.: https://lasair.roe.ac.uk/object/ZTF21abmlldj/, https://alerce.online/object/ZTF21abmlldj, https://antares.noirlab.edu/loci/ANT2021twgbk. Based on observations made with the Liverpool Telescope operated on the island of La Palma by Liverpool John Moores University in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias with financial support from the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council.
