Shirley (MPE) on behalf of the SGLF SLSN group report/s a classification of object: SN 2023aafk

Type: SLSN-I
Redshift: 0.2455

Remarks: AT 2023aafk (ATLAS23xly, ZTF23absniid) was selected for spectroscopic classification with NOT ALFOSC (grism 4) as a SLSN candidate from the slowly evolving ZTF (and ATLAS forced photometry) light curve, the ALeRCE light curve classification, and the faint likely host galaxy. The classification and phase were determined using SNID (S. Blondin & J. L. Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), with good matches to type-I SLSNe and SNe Ic-BL at z = 0.2455 and phase = 20 - 40 days. The reported redshift is from host galaxy emission lines. The light curve is nearly flat since 2024-12-10 (MJD = 60288), with low-amplitude undulations. The ZTF light curve is available at the ZTF/LSST brokers, e.g. Lasair, ALeRCE, ANTARES, and Fink: https://lasair-ztf.lsst.ac.uk/objects/ZTF23absniid/ https://alerce.online/object/ZTF23absniid https://antares.noirlab.edu/loci/ANT2023ta2ruwjmjj4r https://fink-portal.org/ZTF23absniid SN position on the DESI Legacy Survey imaging: https://www.legacysurvey.org/viewer?ra=67.6736273&dec=2.9452468&zoom=14&layer=ls-dr10&zoom=16&mark=67.6736273,2.9452468
