Type: SN IaRedshift: 0.027426
Remarks: Using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find best fits to SNe Ia near maximum light, including SN 2005hf 8 days before peak. The supernova is closest to CGCG 421-034 (z = 0.027426, 2000UZC...C......0F:, value from NED). Adopting this redshift we measure a Si II 6355 velocity of approximately 10,000 km/s. Adopting the distance modulus computed from this redshift (35.3), the g-band absolute magnitude of the object roughly coeval with the spectrum is -18.2 (apparent magnitude 17.1, from ZTF). This absolute magnitude and velocity is consistent with an SN Ia approaching maximum light.
