Jiminez-Ibarra, D. Steeghs, D. K. Galloway, V. Dhillon, P. O'Brien, K. Noysena, R. P. Breton, L. K. Nuttall, E. Pall'e, D. Pollacco on behalf of GOTO report/s a classification of object: SN 2024cew
Type: SN Ia-pecRedshift: 0.15
Remarks: The transient is consistent with a Type Ia SN at a redshift of z=0.15 as classified using SNID. we also find additional matches to 91T-like SN, which is consistent with the high luminosity implied by the redshift. We classify the event as Ia-pec as the first three GOTO detections appear to suggest a very fast decline rate, before levelling out. Spectroscopic follow-up is recommended.
