N. Blagorodnova; G. Garcia Moreno; J. M. González; G. Katusiime; J. Mansilla; A. Rojo; Guijarro; Y. Calatayud; S. Gongora; D. Del Ser; O. Fors; M. Ardèvol; J. Donada; V. Fernandez; J. Garcia Cardoso; B. Gilabert; A. Girón; E. Gombau; M. Gort; A. Moreso; A. Moron; A. Puigdevall; T. Zhang (Universitat de Barcelona) report/s a classification of object: SN 2024gke
Type: SN IIRedshift: 0.026144
Remarks: We report the classification for AT2024gke as a SN II. The transient was discovered by ZTF with the internal name of ZTF24aajhotx, and was reported to TNS by ALErCE as an early SN candidate with a rise time in g-band of > 0.32+-0.01 mag/day. The object is located in the galaxy SDSS J145506.53+464350.9 with redshift of z=0.026144 (NED). Within the training program Calar Alto Academy UB, we obtained a classification spectrum of AT2024gke on the night of 12th of April 2024 (MJD 60413.074) with the low-resolution spectrograph CAFOS (Calar Alto Faint Object Spectrograph), mounted on the CAHA 2.2m telescope. The used grism G-200 offers a resolution of 400 - 500 km/s. The data was reduced using a custom-developed Python pipeline. The flux was calibrated using a standard star at airmass 3.5 (BD+33 2642), while the science target was obtained at airmass 1, resulting in an excessive correction in the blue wavelengths. Based on observations collected at the Centro Astronómico Hispano en Andalucía (CAHA) at Calar Alto, operated jointly by Junta de Andalucía and Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (IAA-CSIC).
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2024-04-13 01:46:45
Instrument: CAFOS
Telescope: Calar Alto 2.2m Telescope
Remarks: a blue continuum and a broad H alpha P-Cygni profile. From the minimum of the H alpha absorption, we estimate an expansion velocity of ~14,000 km/s.
