E. Kankare, P. Charalampopoulos, R. Kotak, K. Matilainen, S. Mattila (Turku), T. Reynolds (Copenhagen), J. Sollerman (Stockholm), M. Stritzinger (Aarhus) report/s a classification of object: SN 2024gzk

Type: SN IIb
Redshift: 0.0103

Remarks: On behalf of the NUTS2 collaboration, we report the optical classification spectrum of SN 2024gzk in Arp 299, which reveals it to be a type IIb SN near maximum light with a best match to SN1997dd based on comparison with template supernova spectra using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024). This is the 8th Type IIb / Ib SN within the ~2 kpc central regions of this luminous infrared galaxy, which is in line with a previous expectation that these core-collapse SN subtypes are preferred in those environments of Arp 299 (Kankare et al. 2021, A&A, 649, A134).
