Date Received (UTC): 2024-09-04 23:28:18 Sender: Joseph Farah
Group: None
Joseph Farah (UCSB/LCO), Moira Andrews, D. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully report/s a classification of object: SN 2024ufz
Type: SN IaRedshift: 0.014283
Remarks: We report the classification of AT 2024ufz as a SN Ia (normal). Using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find best fits to SNe Ia several (~5-10) days prior to peak, with a particularly strong similarity to SN 20038Z at -9 days. The supernova is visually located in ESO 387-G029 (z = 0.014283, d = 62 Mpc, value from NED). Additional followup is encouraged.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2024-09-03 10:15:40
Instrument: FLOYDS-S
