Moira Andrews (UCSB/LCO), Joseph Farah, D. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully report/s a classification of object: SN 2024vcj
Type: SN Ia-91bg-likeRedshift: 0.026
Remarks: We report the classification of AT 2024vcj as a SN Ia 91bg-like using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024). The supernova is visually located in NGC 1100 (z = 0.025087, d = 110.2 Mpc, value from NED). SNID reports a redshift from the spectrum of z = 0.026 +/- 0.006, consistent with the host galaxy redshift from NED. The best match for this spectrum was SN 1999by, 3 days before maximum brightness. This spectrum also resembled some SNe Ic and Ib ~weeks post peak, which is inconsistent with the photometric evolution from ZTF. Thus, we favor the Ia 91bg-like classification. Additional follow-up is encouraged.
