Date Received (UTC): 2025-11-25 00:14:21 Sender: Jacob Wise
Group: ZTF
Jacob Wise (LJMU), Aleksandra Bochenek (LJMU), Daniel Perley (LJMU), Zoe McGrath (LJMU), Christian Tapper (UCLA), Emily Elien (UCLA), R. Michael Rich (UCLA) report/s a classification of object: SN 2025aawk
Type: SN IIRedshift: 0.0778
Remarks: Spectrum displays broad hydrogen balmer P-Cygni features characteristic of a SN II. Redshift of z = 0.0778 obtained from host galaxy emission lines. We note that the transient has been rising for ~65 days thus far, with ~60 days of activity before the rise began, in ZTF forced photometry. The spectrum appears reminiscent of the peculiar 1987a-like supernova 2021aatd at a phase of +83 days (Szalai et al. 2024).
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2025-11-22 04:49:32
Instrument: KAST
Telescope: 3m Lick Shane Reflector
