Group: PASSTA
Aravind P. Ravi (UC Davis), Bhagya Subrayan (U of Arizona), Conor Ransome (U of Arizona), and Griffin Hosseinzadeh (UC San Diego) on behalf of PASSTA report/s a classification of object: SN 2025yii
Type: SN Ia
Remarks: Using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) and SNID-SAGE (Stoppa 2025), we find several good matches to a normal SN Ia, a few days before maximum (e.g., SN 2006gr at z ~0.098 and -2.1d from maximum). This redshift is larger than NGC 2297 (49 Mpc) suggesting this is a background source not associated with the host.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2025-09-24 00:00:00
Instrument: Goodman
Telescope: Southern Astrophysical Research Telescope

This redshift is larger than NGC 2297 (49 Mpc) suggesting this is likely a background source not associated with the host.
