Jacob Wise (LJMU), Daniel Perley (LJMU), Aleksandra Bochenek (LJMU), Zoe McGrath (LJMU), K-Ryan Hinds (Caltech), Joel Johansson (OKC), Jesper Sollerman (OKC) report/s a classification of object: SN 2026afe

Type: SN Ia-pec
Redshift: 0.01

Remarks: Spectrum is well-fit to template spectra from previously classified SN Ia-pec events at a redshift of z = 0.010 ± 0.006. We find a good match to the 03fg-like SN 2009dc before peak brightness, as well as good matches to SN 2000cx and the 00cx-like SN 2013bh between ~5 days before and ~7 days after peak. Additional followup is strongly encourgaed to better constrain the event's redshift and subclass. Classification performed using Next Generation Superfit (NGSF, Goldwasser et al. 2022).
