Ine Theunissen-Limpens report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.

IAU Designation: AT 2005nk
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 12:47:46.562 (191.944006633) DEC = +17:33:47.14 (17.563093531)
Discovery date: 2005-06-01 06:03:37.000 (JD=2453522.7525116)

Potential host galaxy: SDSS J124746.18+173341.9
Host redshift: 0.079

Remarks: This transient was first observed by Ine Theunissen in a discussion started by CalamitusChris (username) on the Galaxy Zoo website here: John Alexander (jacrypto) and Sylvia Beer (Bluemagi) also took part in the discussion. The transient is listed in SDSS as a galaxy, but is not visible in later DECaLS or Pan-STARRS surveys.

Discovery (first detection):
Discovery date: 2005-06-01 06:03:37.000
Flux: 20.41 ABMag
Filter: r-Sloan
Instrument: SDSS-Spec
Telescope: Sloan Digital Sky Survey

Remarks: The r-band Apparent magnitude was taken from SDSS. The r-band Absolute magnitude of -17.28 was also calculated.

Last non-detection:
Archival info: SDSS
