Richard Nowell report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.

IAU Designation: AT 2007vb
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 13:15:00.732 (198.753051) DEC = +09:57:24.05 (9.95668)
Discovery date: 2007-03-14 06:42:25.000 (JD=2454173.779456)

Potential host galaxy: SDSS J131500.97+095723.2
Host redshift: 0.099

Remarks: This transient was first discussed on the Galaxy Zoo website by Richard Nowell here: https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/zookeeper/galaxy-zoo/talk/1268/995374. The redshift value for the host galaxy might be unreliable: http://skyserver.sdss.org/dr14/en/tools/explore/Summary.aspx?id=1237662238009262233. A search was made to find other values but none could be found. Ine Theunissen also took part in the discussion.

Photometry

Discovery (first detection):
Discovery date: 2007-03-14 06:42:25.000
Flux: 21.7 ABMag
Filter: r-Sloan
Instrument: SDSS-Spec
Telescope: Sloan Digital Sky Survey

Remarks: This r-band Apparent magnitude was calculated by Richard Nowell using APT and reference star: SDSS J131501.00+095734.7 http://skyserver.sdss.org/dr14/en/tools/explore/Summary.aspx?id=1237662238009262231. A r-band Absolute magnitude of -16.6 was also calculated (see comments about redshift).
