Harutyunyan (TNG) Padova-Asiago ILRT 0.00198 1 Padova-Asiago SN 2010dn is a gap transient (Kasliwal 2012; Pastorello & Fraser 2019) in the spiral galaxy NGC 3184 (z=0.00198), which was discovered by K. Itagaki on 2010 May 31.523 UT (see http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/iau/cbet/002200/CBET002299.txt). It has a peak absolute magnitude of about -13.5 mag, within the luminosity gap between the classical novae and the typical core-collapse supernovae. A spectrum of SN 2010dn was obtained on 2010 June 2th (JD=2455350.40288) with the 3.58m Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG) (+ LRS; Grism LR-R; Range 509-834 nm; Resolution 1.05nm). The spectrum is dominated by a blue continuum with a blackbody temperature of about 7100 K. The narrow H-alpha emission line has a FWHM expansion velocity of about 750 km/s (corrected for instrument resolution). Furthermore, we detect the prominent [Ca II] doublet (λλ 7291, 7324) in emission, along with Ca NIR triplet, weak Fe lines in emission and Ca H&K lines in absorption. Overall, the spectrum of SN 2010dn is closely reminiscent of the early spectra of the prototypical intermediate luminosity red transient (ILRT) SN 2008S (Smith et al., 2009, ApJ, 697, L49, Botticella et al. 2009, MNRAS, 398, 1041). SN 2010dn was originally classified as a giant luminous blue variable (LBV) outburst (CBET 2300; see http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/iau/cbet/002300/CBET002300.txt), however, subsequent follow-up observations disfavour this interpretation (Cai et al. 2021, in preparation). 2021TNSCR1101....1C
