3092016-08-03 02:55:59lgalbanyLluís Galbany, Santiago González-GaitánNoneSN Ia0.08We report optical spectroscopy of the supernova candidate ATSN2016emk (ra 06:03:42.90, dec -35:44:07.20). The spectrum (390-990nm) was obtained on UT 2016 Aug. 1 with the LDSS3 mounted to the Clay telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. The object is similar to that of a type-Ia supernova at maximum light, clearly showing Si II, S II, Mg II, and Fe II features characteristic of this SN type. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ 666, 1024) gives a best match to SN 2002ck at +0 days since maximum light, shifted to redshift 0.080. http://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=93042016TNSCR.517....1G
