George Carey report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.
IAU Designation: AT 2017ixs
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 00:43:56.000 (10.983333) DEC = +41:32:11.30 (41.536472)
Discovery date: 2017-12-15 17:45:58.000 (JD=2458103.2402546)
Potential host galaxy: M31
Remarks: This object was first seen on 2017-10-29. It is in the same region as recently reported 2017ixr. Although faint at first it is growing brighter and is quite distinct on the latest images. Imaged with 20cm reflector and QSI ccd camera. Previous M31 novae checked, minor planets checked, search of Cepheid variables done, all show no objects.
