giancarlo cortini report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.

IAU Designation: SN 2018amb
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 09:14:55.300 (138.730417) DEC = +46:54:09.00 (46.9025)
Discovery date: 2018-03-25 21:21:36.000 (JD=2458203.39)

Potential host galaxy: UGC 4870

Remarks: Giancarlo Cortini (Monte Maggiore Observatory-Predappio-ITALY) reports the discovery of a possible supernova in UGC 4870 by 0.35m. Sch.-Cass. F/5.5 + Starlight X-Press Trius SX9 CCD camera on several unfiltered images, 35 sec. exposure, mag. about+ 18.0,limit mag. about+ 19.0. (the new object is located at: R.A. 09 14 55.30, DECL. +46 54 09.0 (2000.0). My past image of the same field taken on 2018/02/08.83 showed nothing at that position (limit mag.+ 19.0) and it doesn't appear on P.O.S.S. II red and blue plates. No known minor planet is marked in that position for the time of the discovery. Mag. values from: GSC and USNO.
