Type: SN II
Redshift: 0.04185

Remarks: An optical spectrum of SN 2020abty, obtained on the night of 2020 December 10 with the ESO Very Large Telescope UT1, the FORS2 spectrograph, and grism 300V, shows it to be a Type II supernova. The spectrum shows a blue continuum with weak H features. The spectrum along with the photometric measurements from ATLAS indicate that this is a young supernova, with a phase of 7-8 days. The host redshift is known from SDSS observations.

The following Classification spectrum was provided:

Obsdate: 2020-12-11 01:37:13
