B. Leibundgut, J. Spyromilio (ESO), C. Vogl, A. Floers, S. Taubenberger, W. Hillebrandt, S. Suyu (MPA Garching), S. J. Smartt, M. Dobson (QUB), R. Kotak (Turku), R. Bruch, A. Gal-Yam (Weizmann) report/s a classification of object: SN 2020dbd
Type: SN IIRedshift: 0.042335
Remarks: An optical spectrum of SN 2020dbd, obtained on the night of 2020 February 24 with the ESO Very Large Telescope UT1 equipped with the FORS2 spectrograph and grism 300V, shows a blue continuum with indications of broad P-cygni features of H-alpha and He I 5876, indicative of a young Type II supernova. From the photometric constraints, we estimate a phase about 6d after explosion.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2020-02-25 03:32:45
Instrument: FORS2
Telescope: The Very Large Telescope - UT1
Remarks: Quick-reduction spectrum, corrected for telluric absorption.
