I took a few pics on this target and it seems the suspected star was not reported in existing database. Below is a zoom-in with annotation with UCAC3 and USNO-B1 catalogs with stars ranging from 12-18 mag, and to me there is no mentioning of the suspected star. I measured it to be roughly RA:13°56'06.8" and DEC: +05°15'15.7" under J2000.
The position of 13:57:06.000 +05:09:12.00 corresponds well ESE of the galaxy. However, the description of 6.6" SW of center appears to match up to a superposed star which shows up in the planetarium software Guide 9.1 and which is listed as 4UC477-053092 at magnitude 12.8. A 2MASS image shows a star very close WSW of the core.

This may be a superposed star
