TNS Classification Report No. 8121 [ 2020TNSCR3717....1D ]
Date Received (UTC): 2020-12-08 19:30:39 Sender: Aaron Do
Group: SCAT
Aaron Do (IfA, UH Manoa) on behalf of the SCAT team report/s a classification of object: SN 2020zjx
Type: SNRedshift: 0.09
Remarks: The narrow H alpha is likely contamination from the galaxy. The helium line may indicate Ib, but the distance modulus at z~0.09 combined with the discovery magnitude indicate an absolute magnitude brighter than -19, favoring a Ia. SNID and GELATO do not provide compelling fits to either, but moderately favor a Ib.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2020-12-08 11:06:38
Instrument: SNIFS
Telescope: UH 88inch
Remarks: Reduced with a summit-based quick-reduction pipeline. Only red channel available.
