Craig Pellegrino, Jamison Burke, Daichi Hiramatsu, D. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Estefania Padilla Gonzalez report/s a classification of object: SN 2021hen

Type: SN I
Redshift: 0.021125

Remarks: Using Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) and SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find best fits to several Type I SNe, including Type Ia SN 1999ee and Type Ib SN 1998dt, around maximum. The SN is closest to NGC 4979 (z = 0.021125, 1991RC3.9.C...0000d; value from NED). Assuming this redshift, we measure Ca II ejecta velocities of approximately 15,000 km/s. If the object is a Type Ia SN, the Si II 6355 line is weak and at a velocity of 10,000 km/s. On the other hand, assuming it is a Type Ib SN, we measure He velocities greater than 15,000 km/s. Given the ambiguous nature of this object, further followup is encouraged.
